Bus Boss is real Community Champion

Dec 16, 2025

Kenny Purdie, owner of Carluke bus firm Photoflash Travel, continues to spread festive cheer at University Hospital Wishaw.

Once again, the bus boss has donated hundreds of selection boxes to the hospital. It is tradition he began in memory of his late wife, Joan, who passed away at University Hospital Wishaw in 2016.

Kenny said: “Joan received wonderful care at University Hospital Wishaw and every year at Christmas I want to honour her memory by giving something back.

“The staff at University Hospital Wishaw provide great care all year round and this is our way of saying thank you and spreading a bit of festive cheer.”

School children who visit University Hospital Wishaw to sing Christmas carols will receive a festive treat thanks to this generous donation of selection boxes.

Kenny’s annual gesture is part of a long record of supporting his community. A former European stock car champion, Kenny is a major supporter of many causes – providing tyres for current stock car drivers and sponsoring grassroots football teams. Also, throughout the year, the team at Photoflash repair and service local food bank vehicles, free of charge, to keep them on the road.

Photoflash Travel has deep local roots – founded by Kenny’s father, Jim, 54 years ago, the company now operates a fleet of large buses and minibuses, providing services for rail replacement and schools.

Harry McKenna, Chaplain, University Hospital Wishaw, said: “We are very grateful to Kenny and the team at Photoflash for their kindness and generosity.

“For many years, Kenny has supported countless causes in our community and beyond. We are very proud to benefit from his continued support. Kenny is a real community champion.”
