Staff from across University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire recently came together for a roadshow focused on the theme of belonging.
The event offered an opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection, and featured a range of presentations, discussion, and building on shared experiences.
Dr Su Ross gave a presentation exploring what promotes, and what can disrupt, team belonging. She spoke about the Window of Tolerance, Karpman’s Drama Triangle, and Radical Candour.
Su also highlighted the importance of shared purpose, psychological safety, and curious communication, emphasising that “belonging is the innate human desire to be part of something larger than us.”
Massimo Tarsia, Rebecca Dalgetty, and Amy McGregor from the Bellshill Psychological Therapies Team shared practical approaches to supporting wellbeing within their service.
Their presentation sparked valuable conversations during the table discussions. Staff had the opportunity to reflect on what helps them feel connected and how small, everyday actions can strengthen team culture.
Members of the Senior Management Team also took questions from staff, openly discussing how they maintain wellbeing, navigate competing demands, and model compassionate leadership.
Their message echoed a key theme of the day: strong teams are built on trust, openness, and support.
Reflecting on the event, chief officer Claire Rae said: “Thank you to everyone who presented, attended, and contributed.
“The roadshow reinforced the value of connection across our partnership and the collective role we play in building a workplace where everyone feels they belong.
“It’s vital that we look after one another; checking in, offering support, and taking the time to listen.
“When we support each other, we create an environment where people feel they belong, and that’s when individuals and teams truly flourish.”
