Chair of NHS Lanarkshire Martin Hill said: “This month’s annual review was a valuable chance for the public to delve into NHS Lanarkshire’s significant accomplishments during 2022/23. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate.
“The review provided insights into current topics and issues, spotlighting key projects like Operation Flow and the Monklands Replacement Project. The presentation showcased a variety of key initiatives and developments from the past year, outlining challenges and exciting plans for the future.
“Particular attention was given to the positive outcomes achieved through Operation Flow, which brought the entire health and care system in Lanarkshire together for a concentrated and coordinated effort in late 2022 and early 2023. This effort aimed to stabilise and decompress services, delivering benefits for both patients and staff.”
The presentation also shared details about Phase 2 of Operation Flow, designed to support the healthcare system through winter and progress into Phase 3 in 2024/25.
Members of the public actively engaged in the session, posing questions on various topics such as A&E waiting times, the future of minor injury units, cancer care, GP and primary care services, and the changes to neonatal services at University Hospital Wishaw.
The audience received updates from the senior team on recruitment and staff retention plans, along with the support available to ensure their well-being.
Professor Jann Gardner, Chief Executive added: “During the annual review we highlighted the significant strides made in mental health services for both children and adults, efforts to support and extend GPs across Lanarkshire, and extensive initiatives to enhance patient care and experience.
“An encouraging update on the progress of the new healthcare strategy, Our Health Together, was shared, which saw over 2,000 people actively participating in the engagement process earlier this year.
“This reflects a collaborative effort to shape and improve healthcare services in Lanarkshire which we look forward to continuing and building in the year ahead.”
