Your Health
What to do if you have symptomsÂ
Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) should self-isolate immediately and book a test.
The symptoms of COVID-19 are new:
- continuous cough
- fever/high temperature (37.8C or greater)
- loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste (anosmia)
If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after seven days call NHS 24 on 111.
For patients who do not have Coronavirus symptoms, they should continue to telephone their practice when open and not call NHS 24. During the out-of-hours period, when displaying non-Coronavirus symptoms, only call 111Â if you need urgent assessment and cannot wait until your practice is open.
How to request a test
For up-to-date information on who is eligible to be tested and where to go to access this, please visit the NHS Inform website. If you are unable to access the website, please call 0800 028 2816 to book a test.
How to Self-isolate
Self-isolation means you should remain at home and should not go to work, school, public areas or use public transport. You should not go out to buy food or other essentials. Staying at home helps keep your loved ones and community safe. Other members of your household do not need to isolate unless they have also been contacted by Test & Protect service or you start to develop symptoms.
For advice and guidance on how to self-isolate, visit the NHS Inform website.
How to get a Sick Note if you have Coronavirus symptoms or are self-isolating
If you need a sick note due to Coronavirus, please do not call NHS 24 or your practice and do not go to the surgery. You can download an isolation note directly from NHS Inform here.
What happens when you are phoned by the Test & Protect service Â
When you are phoned by the Test & Protect service, they will provide advice to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Are you experiencing money worries during Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
It’s normal to feel worried, anxious or down when times are hard. If you’re worried about how Coronavirus will impact your finances Scotland’s Citizens Advice Helpline provides money and welfare advice and can be contacted on: 0800 028 1456.
One of the key ways we can all help avoid catching and spreading infections like coronavirus is to practice good personal hygiene.
So please make sure you:

- Maintain good hand hygiene – washing hands with soap and water or alcohol hand sanitiser:
- after coughing or sneezing
- after going to the toilet
- before eating and drinking.
- Avoid direct contact with people that have a respiratory illness and avoid using their personal items such as mobile phones.
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with disposable tissues and dispose of them in the nearest waste bin after use.
The National Infection Prevention and Control Manual also provides best practice guidance and information on washing your hands and using sanitiser/hand rub.
