NHS Lanarkshire is recruiting two new non-executive Board members to play a key role in shaping the health and wellbeing of people across its communities.
It’s an exciting time to join Scotland’s third-largest health board as it strives to deliver a healthier future through a bold and ambitious new healthcare strategy.
Martin Hill, Chair of the Board of NHS Lanarkshire (pictured with staff), said: “We’re interested in hearing from people who want to become a non-executive Board member because they share our values and passion and would like to make a real, positive difference to the lives of the more than 660,000 people in our communities and to our 14,000 staff.
“We’re proud of what we’re currently achieving within our resources to make our services even better and more sustainable. As a dynamic and forward-thinking Board, we’re also focused on the future through a programme of transformation that will achieve even more through innovation and reform.
“This is a great time to be joining us. You could help reshape services and deliver a healthier future for local people through innovative work including our new healthcare strategy, Our Health Together, and ambitious developments such as the replacement of University Hospital Monklands with a new, fully-digital, net zero hospital.
“We’re looking for people from a wide range of skills, backgrounds and knowledge and, where appropriate, training and development will be given.
“One of the roles is a ‘clinical member’, so we’re interested in hearing from individuals who may have been a medical consultant with experience of working in innovation and research or the delivery of medical education. For both roles, it’s necessary for applicants to have experience in public communications and engagement, to help us get our messages across and ensure we listen to the public about their ambitions for their health.
“NHS Lanarkshire’s Board is responsible for the governance of the systems of healthcare and health improvement. Good governance helps to ensure good management, good performance, good stewardship of public funds, the right public engagement and, ultimately, the best health outcomes for the people who rely on us for care and support.
“The Board provides the right values, the right scrutiny of its executive colleagues and the right support to staff to achieve our vision for future healthcare.
“If you’re interested in public service values and committed to the continuous improvement in the health of the population and in the quality of our services, we’d encourage you to apply for these new non-executive roles.”
