ARCHIVED STORY BELOW

NHS Lanarkshire is working with colleagues in the Scottish Ambulance Service to bring a drop-in mobile vaccination unit to rural areas of Lanarkshire.

Dr Mark Russell, Lead for the covid-19 vaccination programme in Lanarkshire, said: “The mobile vaccination unit will help us to reach parts of the community who may have struggled to get to one of our vaccination centres. The bus will offer the covid-19 booster and flu vaccinations as well as first and second doses of the covid-19 vaccine for anyone who still needs to be vaccinated.

“You don’t need an appointment, you can just drop-in as long as you are eligible. For those requiring a covid-19 booster it needs to be at least six months since your second dose.”

To check if you are eligible for a booster visit, www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/the-vaccines/coronavirus-covid-19-booster-vaccination

The mobile clinic will run from 9am to 4.30pm on:

  • Tuesday 5 October – Hopetoun Arms Hotel, 37 Main St, Leadhills, ML12 6XP
  • Wednesday 6 October – Kirkmuirhall Gospel Hall, 60 Vere Road, Kirkmuirhill, ML11 9RP
  • Thursday 7 October – St Brides Centre, Braehead, Douglas, ML11 0PT
  • Friday 8 October – Allanton Church, Allanton, ML7 5AL

The vaccination bus will also be visiting other areas in Lanarkshire from 11 October. Further details on where the bus will visit, will be published at www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/covid-19-vaccine/

First doses of the covid-19 vaccine are available to everyone over the age of 12 and second doses are available to anyone over the age of 18 who has waited at least eight weeks since their first dose.

Appointments for covid-19 booster and flu vaccinations have started to be issued to those aged over 70 and those aged over 16 who were previously shielding. These appointments will take place in our ten vaccination centres across Lanarkshire.

To help people access our vaccination centre at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility we have worked with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) to provide a bus service from Motherwell town centre to the vaccination centre. The 341 service runs every 30 minutes at a subsidised cost of £1.50 single or £2.50 return for adults and £0.80 single or £1.30 return for children.
