Clerical officer Peter Steele picked up the Chair Award at the fifth Staff Awards ceremony which was held virtually over Microsoft Teams.

Peter, who is part of the Salus occupational health team, joined the early access to support for you (EASY) team in 2014 and has went from being shy and introverted to a confident and determined young man.

In 2019 he agreed to help train a new staff member and now oversees his work which was a huge step for Peter. He is now joining a small task force team within Salus to oversee FirstPort and communications.

Peter said: “Thank you very much for this award. I have worked hard throughout the years in getting to where I am now.

“I’d like to thank everyone in my team who has presented me with great opportunities and helped me along the way. I have come a long way and I am very proud of the work I have done and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Peter is also involved with the charity Changing Faces – a charitable organisation in Scotland for everyone with a scar, mark or condition on their face or body that makes them look different. As a volunteer, Peter is working as a campaigner doing interviews for radio and television.

Gillian Archibald, Healthy Working Lives and EASY manager, said: “We are so proud of Peter and everything he has achieved. We’d like to congratulate him on this award.

“He is now a young man on a mission with a future career in NHS Lanarkshire. He has truly been an inspiration to everyone in our Board and across Lanarkshire as to what can be achieved with the support of the organisation, the department and his own personal drive and determination.

“We are all so proud of him at Salus, the EASY team and in NHS Lanarkshire.”
