New staff workshop aims to boost financial resilience

Oct 15, 2025

A free online workshop designed to help NHS Lanarkshire staff feel more in control of their money is being held this November.

Building Financial Resilience – With Your NHS Credit Union will take place on Wednesday 5 November, from 10am to 11am via Microsoft Teams. The session offers a practical and supportive introduction to managing money, building confidence, and preparing for life’s financial ups and downs.

From an unexpected car repair to a higher-than-usual bill, money worries can creep in when we least expect them. This workshop is all about helping staff feel more prepared and less stressed when those moments happen.

Delivered in partnership with Your NHS Credit Union, the session will cover:

  • How to become money smart – and why it matters
  • The value of an emergency fund and how to get started
  • How saving directly from your pay can help you stay on track

You don’t need to be great with money to come along. In fact, if you’ve ever thought, “I’m just not money smart,” this is the perfect place to start. Financial resilience isn’t about being perfect – it’s about taking smart steps over time.

Lesley Mackay, Work & Wellbeing Adviser for NHS Lanarkshire’s Staff Health and Wellbeing Steering Group, said: “We know that money worries can have a real impact on staff wellbeing – especially during times of uncertainty. This workshop is a great opportunity to take some pressure off and learn manageable, realistic steps to feel more financially secure. Whether you’re saving for a goal or just want to worry less, we’d really encourage staff to come along.”

The workshop is open to all NHS Lanarkshire staff. You can join on the day using the link below:
