World Mental Health Day message: ‘Help is just a click away’

Oct 13, 2025

World Mental Health Day was marked across NHS Lanarkshire on Thursday 10 October — but the need for mental health support doesn’t begin and end with a single day.

Staff are being reminded that support is available year-round through a network of local and national services. These include the Staff Support and Wellbeing webpage, the National Wellbeing Hub, and the free, confidential Breathing Space helpline and webchat.

In addition, the Psychological First Aid Kit course offers helpful skills for coping in challenging times, and there are several mindfulness and stress management videos available on demand.

Lesley Mackay, Work & Wellbeing Adviser for NHS Lanarkshire’s Staff Health and Wellbeing Steering Group, said: “Mental health is something we all have — and it deserves regular care and attention, just like physical health. We know that the nature of our work in health and social care can take a toll, and it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed at times.

“What’s important is that you know where to turn, and that you don’t feel you have to carry everything on your own. Whether you reach out for a chat, check in with a wellbeing session, or use the resources on the hub, the first step is knowing that you’re not alone.”

Staff are encouraged to bookmark the support page, share it with colleagues, and check in with themselves regularly.
