During National Eye Health Week (22 to 28 September) we’re reminding you to attend for your diabetic eye screening when invited.
Dr Cathy Johnman, Public Health Consultant, said “If you’re aged 12 or over and have diabetes of any type, it’s important to attend for your specialist diabetic eye screening appointment.
“Having your diabetic eye screening is quick and painless. Diabetic eye screening can pick up changes in the back of the eye that you may not be aware you have. If found, getting treatment early can reduce sight loss or even prevent it.”
The screening test involves taking photos of your retinas (back of the eyes) and takes no longer than 30 minutes for your whole appointment. Your results will be posted to your home and will let you know when you next have to get screened.
