The Domestic Supervisors for Airdrie, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld have been named as finalists in the 2025 NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards — recognised for their exceptional commitment to patient experience, safety and service continuity.
This six-strong team manages cleaning and facilities support across four hospitals and 12 health centres, seven days a week. From early rota checks to last-minute cover calls, they ensure every space is clean, stocked and welcoming — allowing clinical staff to focus on care and patients to feel safe and respected.
When leadership gaps emerged recently, the team stepped up without hesitation, maintaining standards across all 16 sites. They’ve also led the way on compliance projects like “I Matter” and PVG checks, supporting a 150-strong workforce through complex system changes — often by adjusting their own shifts to ease the pressure.
Described as “the backbone of patient experience,” the team exemplifies teamwork, responsibility and pride in everything they do.
