Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and staff are reminded that a wide range of training opportunities and practical resources are available to help support mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Whether you’re a manager, a healthcare professional or simply want to better understand how to support yourself and others, there are courses and learning tools available to suit every level of interest and experience.
Creating safer, more supportive environments starts with awareness – and access to the right training can give people the tools they need to make a difference.
Lesley Mackay, Work & Wellbeing Adviser for NHS Lanarkshire’s Staff Health and Wellbeing Steering Group, said: “Training plays a vital role in changing how we talk about mental health and suicide. Even a small increase in understanding can make a big difference to someone who’s struggling.
“These courses are about giving staff the skills and confidence to support each other – whether it’s through starting a conversation, knowing where to signpost someone for help or looking after your own wellbeing during difficult times.”
