Consultant in Dental Public Health Albert Yeung has been elected President of the West of Scotland Branch of the British Dental Association (BDA), which represents dentists across Ayrshire, Argyll & Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dumfriesshire, Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, Stirlingshire, Wigtownshire—and, of course, Lanarkshire.
In this role, Albert will oversee the branch’s continuing professional development (CPD) programme, foster collaboration between community, hospital and general dental services, and champion preventive, public‑health‑oriented dentistry throughout the region.
Speaking of his appointment, Albert said: “I’m honoured to take the helm of the West of Scotland Branch, and I’m committed to overseeing a dynamic CPD programme, strengthening collaboration across community, hospital and general dental services, and championing preventive, public-health‑focused dentistry for every patient in our region.”
The CPD programme for 2025–26 is available here. Information on booking the annual dinner on Saturday 21 March 2026 can be found here.
Based at NHS Lanarkshire, Albert is already a familiar face to local teams. His leadership résumé includes a term as President of the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (2022–23) and current chair of the BDA Scottish Council—experience that positions him to navigate the evolving Scottish NHS dental contract and advocate effectively for both patients and professionals.
The 2025–26 CPD programme will end with a presidential lecture Have you got a sweet tooth? on 25 March 2026.
