This year’s Director of Public Health Annual Report, which focuses on the health of children and young people, features artwork created by children from across Lanarkshire, and a number of the pieces were used in the report.
The children were asked to draw their perception of health and wellbeing and the Director of Public Health along with the editorial team had a hard task picking out winners from more than 400 entries from schools across Lanarkshire.
However, there was one stand-out drawing which was picked to feature as the front cover of the report and last week Abbie, the artist was presented with a front cover winner trophy.
Abbie, who attends Willowbank Secondary School in Airdrie was joined by teachers, friends and family to receive her trophy from NHS Lanarkshire’s Director of Public Health, Professor S Josephine Pravinkumar.
Professor Pravinkumar said: ““Abbie’s artwork captured the themes that children think about and why her drawing made the front cover but all the children involved should be proud of their artwork and their contribution.
“I would like to sincerely thank all the children and young people who contributed their views and opinions to this year’s report, particularly the children who provided the artwork which is included in various sections of the report. The report explores some of the usual public health themes, through a child health lens.”
