Resources
NHS Lanarkshire climate change data
NHS Lanarkshire is required to report annually in accordance with the climate change (Duties of Public Bodies Reporting Requirements) (Scotland) Order 2015. The reports contain NHS Lanarkshire’s profile, governance, emissions and projects, adaptations, procurement, validation and recommended wider influence.
Improvement Services - Local Government Benchmarking Framework
This report provides a high-level analysis of the performance of councils. Setting out the challenges facing Councils in the context of current funding pressures, growing demand, etc. The full detail of the Local Government Benchmarking Framework (LGBF) data on climate change and sustainability is available in the LGBF Dashboard which provides access to data and analysis at an indicator level, service level, family group level and council level, along with narrative to support meaningful interpretation. Supplementary reports providing more detailed analysis across key policy and service areas will appear over time.
NHS Lanarkshire’s Climate change and sustainability website
NHS Lanarkshire has its own Sustainability and Climate Change webpage, here you can find the NHS Lanarkshire’s sustainability and climate change strategy, useful information and resources. A report is available on the climate emergency and sustainability, providing data on Leadership and governance, greenhouse gas emissions, emission summary, climate change adaptation, building energy, sustainable care, travel and transport, greenspace and biodiversity, sustainable procurement, circular economy and waste, environmental stewardship, sustainable construction and sustainable communities.
Local and regional greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial strategy reports on UK local authority and regional estimates of greenhouse gas emissions. Provides Statistical summary, statistical release, data tables and datasets. Other documents included in the site: Mapping greenhouse gas emissions and removals for land use change and forestry sector.
UK Greenhouse gas emissions by local authority
The Government provides a breakdown of greenhouse gas emissions by local authority area. These statistics go back to 2005. Previous statistics are available however, only cover emissions for carbon dioxide.
North Lanarkshire
Climate action plan for North Lanarkshire
North Lanarkshire’s Climate Action Plan outlines the area’s emissions profile, including baseline greenhouse gas data for council operations and the wider region. It reports on energy use, transport, waste, and land use impacts, setting interim carbon budgets and reduction targets for 2021–2026. The plan also tracks progress against Scotland’s national climate goals and identifies governance, adaptation, and partnership data to guide the route to net-zero by 2030.
North Lanarkshire Heat and energy efficiency strategy
North Lanarkshire’s Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy provides details on the engagement process that informed North Lanarkshire’s Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES). Includes feedback from residents, businesses, and community groups on topics such as heat networks, energy efficiency measures, and the impact of fuel poverty. A concern raised during consultations was the prevalence of mould in homes, particularly in areas with poor insulation and heating. The strategy addresses this by prioritising energy efficiency improvements, such as enhanced insulation and modern heating systems, to mitigate dampness and mould growth.
South Lanarkshire
South Lanarkshire public performance reports – climate change
This link provides Community and Environmental public performance reports on – Sustainable development and climate change. Providing a clear presentation of data and results over time, targets, where available, explanations of the performance indicators, results and future actions, comparisons, where available, satisfaction statistics and links or signposts to more information.
South Lanarkshire Heat and energy efficiency strategy
South Lanarkshire Council – Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) outlines the council’s long-term approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings while helping to improve residents’ quality of life by addressing fuel poverty. The strategy supports the council’s wider aims of enhancing energy efficiency, lowering carbon emissions through zero-direct-emissions heating systems, and reducing the burden of energy costs on households. The LHEES follows an eight-stage process that brings together the council’s existing goals and strategies, detailed analysis of building-stock data, and input from a range of stakeholder groups. The strategy is grounded primarily in a data-driven assessment, using multiple datasets and proxy indicators to shape priorities and proposed actions.
