April is Stress Awareness Month – a time to reflect on how stress affects us and what support is available.
To mark the occasion, Melissa Robertson, Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology with the Digital Mental Health team, features in a short video sharing what’s available through the Lanarkshire Mind Matters website – a free resource open to everyone living in Lanarkshire.
In the video, Melissa explains how Lanarkshire Mind Matters can help with common mental health challenges such as stress, sleep difficulties, anxiety, and low mood. The site includes:
-
-
Self-referral tools like Sleepio (for sleep) and Daylight (for anxiety and worry)
-
Stress control classes – in-person, six-week drop-in courses held regularly across Lanarkshire
-
SilverCloud programs – online, self-guided CBT-based support for topics such as stress, money worries and body image
-
Links to external organisations offering practical advice and mental health support
-
Melissa says: “We know how easy it is to get stuck in that cycle of stress. Feeling stressed can affect our sleep – and poor sleep can make us feel even more stressed.”
The video is part of ongoing work by the Digital Mental Health team to promote mental wellbeing and encourage people to explore support that works for them.
