Hard-working staff in one of our busy emergency departments found time to give to a Christmas shoe box appeal.
Colleagues in the Emergency Department (ED) at University Hospital Monklands donated 30 shoeboxes to the Blythswood Care Shoe Box Appeal.
Filled with small, practical items such as toiletries, stationery and clothing, the individually-wrapped boxes are distributed in schools, hospitals, orphanages and care homes, and to households in very low income communities. Many have gone to people affected by the war in Ukraine.
ED Charge Nurse Vicky Stewart, who organised the donation, said: “This generous contribution will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
“The initiative taken by the team not only showcases their commitment to community service but also highlights the importance of supporting charitable causes.
“The thoughtful preparation of these shoe boxes reflects the care and compassion that our healthcare professionals embody, extending their mission of healing beyond the hospital walls.
“I believe it’s essential to recognise and celebrate such acts of kindness within our community. Their efforts serve as an inspiring example of how we can all contribute to making a positive impact in the lives of others.”
