The Briar Centre has been honoured with the prestigious Special Recognition Award at the 2024 Staff Awards.
This accolade celebrates the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service’s ground breaking approach, recognising its commitment to patient-centred care and innovation in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.
Opened in November 2023, The Briar Centre represents the latest advancement in NHS Lanarkshire’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Model, providing seamless rehabilitation across inpatient, community, and vocational pathways. The Centre has quickly become a beacon of hope and healing for individuals recovering from brain injuries, with a dedicated multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals, nurses, and sessional medics working around the clock to deliver personalised, goal-driven rehabilitation.
The Briar Centre’s commitment to stretching beyond traditional care boundaries is what sets it apart. Whether providing treatment in hospital, at home, in the workplace, or even in community spaces like schools and supermarkets, the team’s focus remains on helping patients regain their independence. By offering vocational assessments and work-hardening programmes, they also play a crucial role in supporting patients’ return to work.
Named after the Briar Rose, symbolising the challenging but transformative nature of brain injury recovery, the Centre continues to flourish as a vital service within the community. This Special Recognition Award highlights the outstanding work of the staff and their dedication to improving the lives of those they care for.
