Staff across NHS Lanarkshire are invited to an enlightening online workshop aimed at helping improve sleep.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore the vital role sleep plays in our health and wellbeing, gaining valuable insights and practical tips to enhance their sleep quality.
The online session, which will take place on Thursday 31 October 2024, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM, will feature Professor Colin Espie, the leading expert in sleep medicine, honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist in NHS Lanarkshire and the founder of Sleepio.
Dr Su Ross, consultant clinical psychologist, said: “Sleep plays a crucial role in our physical and mental health, and understanding its importance is vital for maintaining overall wellbeing. This workshop offers staff the opportunity to learn from Professor Colin Espie, an esteemed authority in sleep medicine and the founding director of the Oxford Experimental and Clinical Sleep Medicine research programme.
“The workshop will give insights into the latest developments in sleep research and the impact of sleep on our daily lives. Participants will have the chance to ask questions and gain personalised advice on improving their sleep quality.”
Professor Colin Espie is a highly respected figure in the field of sleep medicine. He serves as the Professor of Sleep Medicine at the University of Oxford and has published over 300 scientific papers on insomnia and its treatment. He is also the co-founder of Sleepio, a digital intervention for insomnia now available within the NHS. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including the Mary A. Carskadon Outstanding Educator Award and the Peter Hauri Lifetime Scientific Achievement Award.
