Every year, communities and organisations from across Scotland come together to mark Climate Week, and encourage and promote climate action.
Today our Chairman, Martin Hill, reflects on how NHS Lanarkshire is making changes as part of our commitment to embed climate and sustainability in all our work to reduce the impact of climate change and protect the planet.
He explained: “Since we launched of our Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy in 2022 we have continued the roll out of some of the eHealth technologies that reduce travel needs and increase collaborative working.
“We have been trying to introduce more single use plastics that we can phase out and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from anaesthetics and inhalers.
“We have introduced green theatres, have converted more of our vehicles fleet to electric and found new ways to improve our water and energy efficiency.”
These are some of the actions we as an organisation are doing but individuals can also make changes at work and at home. To find out more please watch Martin’s video on how you can support Climate Week Scotland 2024.
As a follow on from Climate Week, we are running the following lunchtime workshops:
Energy Saving Workshop, Tuesday 1 October 12pm-1pm
