Staff Awards 2024 Finalist : Aaron Hanlon

Sep 11, 2024

Aaron Hanlon, a remarkable young volunteer at NHS Lanarkshire, has been announced as a finalist for the Staff Awards Ceremony 2024. At just 16 years old, Aaron has shown a level of dedication, maturity, and compassion far beyond his years, making a significant impact within the Emergency Department (ED).

While still studying for his exams, Aaron has committed himself to supporting the busy ED, motivated by his ambition to become a paramedic. His role involves interacting with patients, offering refreshments under staff guidance, and assisting with the general flow of the department. Despite his youth, Aaron approaches every task with exceptional responsibility, kindness, and respect, earning admiration from both staff and patients.

Aaron’s dedication to helping others began even before joining the ED. At the age of 15, he volunteered in a care home, providing companionship and conversation to residents who had no visitors. His ability to connect with people and brighten their day has been a hallmark of his volunteer work. In the ED, he continues this by offering reassurance and support to families in stressful situations while constantly praising the staff and the care being provided.

His enthusiasm, reliability, and eagerness to learn from every experience demonstrate a commitment to both his current role and his future career aspirations. Aaron’s passion for helping others and his dream of working in healthcare make him an inspiring example of what can be achieved through volunteerism.

For his outstanding contribution as a volunteer and his dedication to making a difference in people’s lives, Aaron Hanlon has been deservedly shortlisted for this award. His energy and compassion reflect the very best qualities we value in our volunteers.
