Staff choir in action

Our fantastic staff choir is ready to raise the roof again – and is looking for new members to sign up to sing up.

The choir has previously wowed audiences with its show-stopping performances at our Staff Awards and other events and the group are now warming up their vocal chords as they prepare to take to the stage again.

Choir leader Peter McCrossan said: “We want to boost the number of singers as we get ready for an autumn concert and this year’s Staff Awards.”

Peter, who’s Director for Allied Health Professions, added: “We’d especially like some of our male colleagues to join as we only have a couple of men at the moment to lend their deeper tones to our sound.

“Being part of a choir is a fun way to meet new friends who enjoy singing.

“It’s a real mood booster and also fosters a sense of belonging and provides an opportunity for emotional expression and mental stimulation through challenging yourself to learn new songs. Then there’s the mindfulness aspect – singing requires concentration on breath control, pitch and rhythm, which can help you stay present and mindful.

“There are important physical benefits, too. Singing improves breathing through good breath control, which can enhance lung capacity and overall respiratory function. Singing with proper technique also encourages good posture, which can benefit your overall physical health.”

Peter, Musical Director Ian Monteith-Mathie and the current members would love to see you join up.
