Cervical cancer takes the lives of two women every day in the UK, however cervical cancer is often preventable with regular cervical screening and the HPV vaccine.
Our Health Improvement team has teamed up with Jo’s Trust, the leading UK cervical cancer charity, to organise a 60-minute online event for staff, volunteers and community partners in Lanarkshire who want to increase their awareness about cervical cancer and prevention. The event will take place on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 at 10.30-11.30am.
Our cervical cancer prevention sessions equip women and other people with a cervix with the information they need to make an informed choice about attending cervical screening.
Jane Paton, one of our Health Improvement team leaders, commented:
“This online session is a great overview of cervical cancer and prevention delivered by Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. It is easy to access online, so why don’t you book a place and let your colleagues know about it too. Previous participants have said the training supported their learning in a relaxed environment.”
The session will cover:
- What cervical cancer is.
- Signs & symptoms.
- How cervical cancer can be prevented.
- Barriers women may experience in attending screening.
- Discussion on how to share key messages in your community with patients, peers, family and colleagues who may need this potentially life-saving information.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 at 10.30- 11.30am.
