In honour of Suicide Prevention Week 2023, the Cumbernauld Community Mental Health Team organised a fundraising sponsored hill walk up Ben A’an to benefit the Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) (previously the Scottish Association for Mental Health). The expedition was a great success. A massive £1198.75 was raised by the team for SAMH!

Jennifer Ratcliffe, from the Cumbernauld Community Mental Health Team, said: “We are very proud of our team, well done to each and every person who donated for such a valuable cause.”

In order to help people in Scotland who require support with their mental health, SAMH provides a comprehensive range of services, including peer support, employability support, support for individuals struggling with addiction, and homelessness support. The organisation is committed to promoting everyone’s mental health and wellbeing. In their ideal society, everyone is free to live their lives to the fullest, regardless of their past or present circumstances.

The non-profit organisation recently unveiled a new name, Scottish Action for Mental Health, to commemorate the end of its century. Their fresh strategy aligns with this new name.

Marilyn Boyd, SAMH Community and Events Fundraiser, expressed the organisations gratitude in a letter addressed to the Cumbernauld Community Mental Health Team.

Marilyn said: “We are so grateful for your support of SAMH and for your donation of £1198.75 raised from your Ben A’an Challenge.

“We Won’t Wait is our new strategy. We’ve delivered care and support to thousands, we’ve spoken out, stood up, and most importantly, we have listened. We’re tried, tested and trusted, but now it’s time for more. We are stepping up, so that SAMH can reach everyone who needs us and we are so grateful to have you step up alongside us.”

What a fantastic accomplishment for the Cumbernauld Community Mental Health Team! The entire organisation commends their generous efforts.
