SPOTLIGHT

We want to see how you prioritise your wellbeing

Oct 24, 2023

Working in healthcare can be both rewarding and challenging. It’s essential that we take care of ourselves, so we can continue to provide the excellent care our patients deserve.

NHS Lanarkshire’s Staff Health and Wellbeing Week, taking place over the week beginning 30th October is an opportunity for us to focus on our own health and wellbeing. We aim to focus on recharging ahead of winter, and to connect with our colleagues through the programme of activities in a more relaxed environment. We encourage each and every one of you to take part in wellbeing activities that resonate with you, ensuring that you prioritize self-care during this important week.

Paul Graham, Head of Spiritual Care and Wellbeing, emphasises the significance of self-care, saying, “Caring for ourselves is not selfish; it’s essential. By taking care of our own wellbeing, we become better equipped to care for others. During Staff Health and Wellbeing Week, let’s make a collective effort to nurture our minds, bodies, and spirits.

“To make the week enjoyable and accessible, we’ve organized a range of activities that you can participate in. You can find the complete list and book these activities through the links available on Pulse Online.

“In addition to participating in these organized activities, we’re inviting you to undertake your own wellbeing activities during the week. Whether it’s a leisurely walk in the park, trying out a new recipe, painting, or even just reading a book you’ve been meaning to get to. We want to see how you prioritize your wellbeing.

“We encourage you to capture these moments through photographs and share them with us. By doing so, you not only inspire your colleagues but also create a sense of community as we collectively engage in self-care activities.”

Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Undertake your wellbeing activity during Staff Health and Wellbeing Week.
  2. Take a photograph or a short video of your activity.
  3. Share it on social media using the hashtag #TeamLanarkshire #StaffWellbeingWeek and tag NHS Lanarkshire.
  4. Send your photos to communications@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk for a chance to be featured in our Staff Wellbeing Highlights.

Remember, your wellbeing matters. It is important to celebrate your commitment to self-care during this special week. By participating, you contribute to a healthier and happier NHS Lanarkshire family.

Let’s make Staff Health and Wellbeing Week a memorable and rejuvenating experience. Together, we can nurture our own wellbeing, support one another, and continue to provide exceptional care to our patients.
