NHS Lanarkshire has extended a warm welcome to its new employee director and chair of staff side, Sylvia Stewart.
Sylvia joined NHS Lanarkshire in 2000 as a specialist biomedical scientist and worked in the pathology department at the former Law Hospital as well as University Hospitals Wishaw and Monklands.
Sylvia has been a staff side/partnership representative for 10 years and has been involved in partnership working at local, regional and national level, such as the Scottish Terms and Conditions Committee and Scottish Partnership Forum.
Sylvia has been dedicated to the trade union movement for many years and has served as the Unite NHS Lanarkshire health branch chair as well as being a national executive council member of Unite the Union.
On taking up her appointment, Sylvia said: “I’m delighted to have been elected as NHS Lanarkshire’s employee director and chair of staff side and will work hard with our sister trade unions and professional organisations to serve our members, patients and staff across the organisation through my commitment to partnership working, fairness and equality”.
