NHS Lanarkshire will implement a new ‘RLDatix’ e-rostering solution as part of the national e-rostering programme led by National Services Scotland.
The aim is to introduce a single e-rostering solution across NHSScotland that will be a key system with national business systems. The system will become the master system for the compilation of rosters, management of leave and recording time worked by all staff. The new workforce management solution will assist the organisation to improve its rostering practices, help match staffing levels to patient needs and support the delivery of better healthcare services to the people of Lanarkshire.
Jacqui Jones, director of human resources, said: “E-rostering will provide teams with the ability to access their roster on their phone, tablet or laptop while at the same time improving safety by providing – for the first time ever – an overview of multi-disciplinary rostering across the whole organisation”.
The main benefits of e-rostering include:
- For managers – able to view, amend and approve rosters easily and ‘on the go’;
- For staff – easier access to their roster and greater control over their work-life admin;
- For bank staff – easier access to book and manage shifts;
- For junior doctors – safer working environment and easy to record monitoring exercises;
- For ward managers/senior nurses/clinical leads – confidence in having the correct number and skills mix of staff in the right place;
- For patients – a better level of care service in all our services.
Loop app
The ‘Loop’ app will allow staff to see their own and their team’s roster, so staff will know where they are working and where their colleagues are. Staff can book leave, view available bank shifts and more, all from an app on a mobile or tablet. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store. The app’s communication features will also allow staff to connect with colleagues via instant messaging.
