The winning team, ‘Notorious SRB’ consisted of:

  • Silvia Ruiz-Buitrago – ED Consultant
  • Rachel Lees – ED Senior nurse
  • Vivienne Walker – ED Clinical support worker
  • Asad Ullah – IMG (international Doctor) – Clinical Fellow
  • Mariz Sosa – Physician Assistant:

Silvia Ruiz-Buitrago, team leader of Notorious SRB, said: “Notorious SRB is a team from Emergency Department Hairmyres who loves exercise and banter. We gave 110% doing long walks, running, cycling, going to the gym and doing water sports. Thanks to the weather and the holidays the majority of our activities were outside in Scotland, Spain, Italy and the Philippines!

“The most delightful thing of taking part in the challenge was the way we all became friends and the improvement in our fitness. (Our ED teams in Hairmyres were allocated randomly by our ED representative).

“As a leader, I loved working with my team, very determent and funny.”

Mary McGibbon, health improvement senior – Healthy Working Lives, NHS Lanarkshire, commented: “The last 6 weeks have been a blast, and 27 milestones later we have completed the Walking Challenge on the extra special day of the 75th anniversary of the NHS in Scotland.

“I’d like to say a huge well done to everyone who took part, it was a great achievement. I hope everyone had a great time completing the challenge, and it’s even better knowing we have done our bit for the environment too. A whopping 268 trees will be planted by the Big Team Challenge thanks to NHS Lanarkshire staff.”
