High five for Hand Hygiene

May 5, 2023

Hand hygiene saves millions of lives every year when performed at the right moments during health care delivery.

Now is a critical time when countries across the world need to accelerate implementation of lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and increase investments to close gaps in infection prevention and control (IPC), including hand hygiene.

Lee Macready, Senior Nurse Infection Prevention and Control: “Hand Hygiene always has been and always will be a key priority for patient-safety in NHS Lanarkshire. Good Hand Hygiene practices remain the single most effective way to reduce the spread of healthcare infections.

“World Hand Hygiene Day is a fantastic opportunity for the Infection Prevention and Control team to raise awareness with our staff and service-users in order to promote the vital message that Clean Hands Save Lives.”
