On International Workers Memorial Day, Unison Lanarkshire Health Branch held a memorial service at Kirklands Headquarters
This was an opportunity for NHS Lanarkshire and all staff side organisations and employees to remember and commemorate those staff who have died at work.
Eddie Docherty, deputy chief executive, said: “It was a real privilege to represent NHS Lanarkshire at the memorial event. It is an example of how much we respect and value our workforce and working relationships with our staff side colleagues.
“We would like to thank everyone for their hard work, and continued hard work, to make NHS Lanarkshire a safer place to work.”
Peter McKinlay, Unison Lanarkshire Health and Safety Rep, said: “As we come to mark International Workers Memorial Day, we pay our special respects to those who died during the Covid-19 pandemic. We use the mantra – remember the dead, fight for the living.
“Fighting for the living is equally important as remembering the dead. The positive thing we can all do is to strive to make all work places safe and healthy for current and future workers.
“Working with our employers in partnership, we help make our workplaces safer and healthier for all.”
