Inpatients – staying in hospital for treatment
We hope that your stay in hospital will be as comfortable as possible.
To help you prepare for your admission, your treatment or surgery and your departure, we have a comprehensive inpatient booklet ‘Welcome to NHS Lanarkshire Acute Hospitals’ and a quick-read leaflet ‘Acute Hospitals – information for patients admitted to hospital’.
Both of these also include information for visitors that you can share with family and friends.
NHS inform also provides information for inpatients in Scotland. Visit https://www.nhsinform.scot/ or call 0800 22 44 88.
You’ll find hospital contact information, location details and travel information on our hospitals pages:
Patient Rights
The Patient Rights (Scotland) Act 2011 was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 24 February 2011, and received Royal Assent on 31 March 2011.
The Act requires Scottish Ministers to publish a Charter of Patient Rights and Responsibilities which summarises the existing rights and responsibilities of patients using the NHS in Scotland and of people with an interest in their care.
Within the charter, your rights and responsibilities fall under six  headings – access, communications and participation, confidentiality, respect, safety, feedback and complaints.
You can access a copy of the charter on the NHS inform website.
