Standing & Sitting Exercises After Total Hip Replacement

1.
Stand holding onto something that does not move.
Stand on one leg.
Not the leg of your operation.
Keep your toes pointing forward.

2.
Bend your operated leg at the knee and take your foot off the floor.
Put your foot back on the floor.
Do this 10 times.
Do not let your knee move above your hip.

3.
Hold onto something that does not move.
Stand on one leg.
Not the leg of your operation.
Keep your toes pointing forward.
Swing your operated leg backwards and forwards.
Do this ten times.

4.
Hold onto something that does not move.
Hold with one hand, and face the side.
Stand on one leg.
Not the leg of your operation.
Keep your toes pointing forward.
Lift your operated leg sideways.
Do this 10 times.

5.
Sit in a chair.
Straighten your knee.
Hold for a count of 5.
Slowly bend your knee.
Do the same with the other leg.
Do this ten times with each leg in turn.
