Free tickets are still available for an event giving people the chance to influence decisions about health, social care and community support across North Lanarkshire.
Residents are being encouraged to attend this year’s Participation Day at Bellshill YMCA on Wednesday 30 September, from 10am-2.30pm.
The free event will bring together North Lanarkshire residents, people with lived experience, carers, community groups, University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire staff and decision-makers.
People attending will be able to share their experiences, provide feedback on decisions affecting their lives and explain what matters most to them. They’ll also have another chance to contribute to the Local Outcome Improvement Plan engagement before it closes the following day.
The theme for this year’s event is Prevention, Participation and Priorities: Getting It Right for Everyone. The day will explore how early support can help people stay well and independent, how people can be involved in decisions, and how services can respond to local priorities.
Visitors can visit information stalls, meet local organisations, watch short information films and hear how people’s views have influenced change. Presentations will run in the morning and be repeated in the afternoon.
Maria Barry, Interim Chief Officer for Getting It Right for Everyone, University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, said: “Decisions about health and social care should be informed by the people whose lives they affect.
“More than 100 people attended last year’s event, including carers, supported people, voluntary organisations and community representatives. We want this year’s event to be even bigger and better so that as many people as possible can share their views and experiences.
“Participation Day gives local people a direct opportunity to tell us what is working, what could be better and what matters most to them. We want to listen to those experiences and use the feedback to improve how support is planned and delivered.
“Free tickets are still available. Whether a person use services, cares for someone, works with a community group or simply wants to have a say, I would encourage people to join us if they can.”
