The Bladder and Bowel Service is proud to celebrate World Continence Week (15 to 21 June 2026) and raise awareness of the support available to patients across Lanarkshire.
This nurse-led service, made up of a dedicated team leader, specialist nurses, healthcare support workers, and administrative staff, plays a vital role in improving patients’ bladder and bowel health.
The team provides expert assessment, advice, and treatment to help manage symptoms, enhance dignity, and significantly improve quality of life.
Working closely with individuals in the community, the service is committed to delivering person-centred care, empowering patients to better understand and manage their conditions.
In addition to clinical care, the administrative team provides a crucial function by coordinating the home delivery service for continence products. This service supports patients across all community settings, including care homes and community hospitals throughout Lanarkshire, ensuring timely and efficient access to essential supplies.
World Continence Week provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of continence care, reduce stigma, and recognise the commitment and expertise of the Bladder and Bowel Service in supporting patients every day.
