Staff Awards 2026: colleagues across NHS Lanarkshire get nominating

May 15, 2026

One week on from the launch of nominations for the NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards 2026, colleagues across the organisation have already been taking the time to recognise the individuals and teams who make a real difference every day.

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate staff and volunteers who go above and beyond for patients, service users, families and colleagues.

This year, staff can nominate individuals or teams for Excellence in Care and Compassion; Innovation and Improvement; Outstanding Team Collaboration in both clinical and non-clinical settings; Unsung Hero awards for clinical and non-clinical colleagues; and Volunteer Contribution. There will also be special recognition through the Chair Award and Chief Executive Award.

New for 2026, NHS Lanarkshire is also introducing a People’s Choice Award, giving staff the opportunity to help choose a winner.

To help colleagues submit the strongest possible nomination, a new Guide to Nominations video is now available. The short video gives practical advice on what makes a nomination stand out, including how to include clear examples, describe the impact of the person or team’s work, and show why they deserve to be recognised.

Calvin Brown, director of communications, said: “It has been fantastic to see colleagues across NHS Lanarkshire already getting behind this year’s Staff Awards and taking the time to nominate the people and teams who make such a positive impact.

“These awards are about recognising the dedication, compassion and commitment shown by staff and volunteers every day. A strong nomination can make all the difference, so I would encourage anyone thinking about putting someone forward to watch the Guide to Nominations video before they submit.

“It only takes a little time to nominate, but it can mean a huge amount to the person or team being recognised. Whether it is a colleague who consistently supports others, a team that has worked together to improve services, or someone whose contribution often goes unnoticed, this is your chance to give them the recognition they deserve.”

Colleagues are encouraged to submit nominations as soon as possible and not to wait until the closing date. Taking time to include specific examples and explain the difference the nominee has made will help judging panels understand the full impact of their work.

Watch the Guide to Nominations video and submit your nomination on the Staff Awards page.
