NHS Lanarkshire has welcomed a fleet of new procurement logistics service delivery vehicles following a successful, collaborative procurement process undertaken by its procurement estates and facilities team and University Hospital Hairmyres’ procurement logistics stores team.
The vehicles have been custom-built to specifications provided by the stores team, allowing a greater number of cages to be loaded and transported safely to sites across Lanarkshire in a single journey. The new vehicles will support a more efficient and optimised distribution service, reducing vehicle mileage while maintaining a safe and reliable delivery operation.
Dave Greenhough, stores and logistics manager, procurement logistics service, said: “I’m delighted that we were successful in procuring these new custom-built vehicles. This means that it will enable the procurement logistics stores team to safely and efficiently distribute 85,000 high-use medical consumable order lines to primary care and community sites across the health board area on an annual basis”.
