A site-wide improvement programme is underway at University Hospital Hairmyres, focused on strengthening patient safety, experience and flow across the hospital.
The Site Safety Improvement Programme (SSIP) brings together colleagues from across services to better understand how the hospital system is working, identify where change is needed, and support practical improvements that make a real difference for patients and staff.
The first edition of the SSIP newsletter provides a comprehensive overview of the work to date, highlighting how teams are using data, frontline insight and shared learning to identify priority areas for improvement. It also shares examples of early changes already being tested, alongside reflections from staff involved in the programme and updates on engagement sessions taking place across the site.
Lynne Huckerby, Deputy Director of Acute Services – Change and Transformation, said: “The Site Safety Improvement Programme is about creating the space for people to pause, reflect and really understand how the system is working — and where it isn’t.
“Our teams are working incredibly hard in a pressured environment, and this programme recognises that meaningful improvement comes from bringing people together, listening to frontline experience and using data intelligently to agree where change will make the biggest difference.
“This is not about performance management. It’s about collective problem-solving, shared responsibility and building improvement that is realistic, sustainable and grounded in everyday practice.”
Colleagues are encouraged to explore the full newsletter to learn more about the programme and how they can get involved.
