A new online service launched today, offering people access to their health and social care information in one secure place.
MyCare.scot will be available to people aged 18 and over across Scotland following an initial trial in NHS Lanarkshire with our dermatology service.
Over time, MyCare.scot will develop to support people to manage their health and social care in the way that suits them.
From now, people can use MyCare.scot to view:
- Their Community Health Index (CHI) number
- Some of the details NHS Scotland has stored about them – like their home address
- Their medication and allergy information
- Their COVID and flu vaccination record since 2021
- Health and care services near them
Donald Wilson, NHS Lanarkshire Director of Digital Services, said: “This initial version is the first step on an exciting journey – as the service develops using people’s feedback, it will be able to do much more. Of course, existing non-digital options are still available.
“When using MyCare.scot, people’s information is protected by the same safeguards used for health and social care information more widely. For instance, to use MyCare.scot you must verify your identity through ScotAccount.
“Impact and change will be minimal for health and social care professionals. The launch doesn’t trigger new appointments, referrals or technical integrations. There will not be any technical changes needed or changes to appointment systems or clinical or operational responsibility.”
For health and care professionals, the MyCare.scot online National Hub features help and resources, including:
- A playbook to explain the impact of MyCare.scot, tailored for different health and social care professionals
- A quick-reference factsheet for frontline staff
- FAQs for workforce
Staff should direct any questions to their managers in the first instance.
There’s more information, including support to sign up, on MyCare.scot and on NHS Inform.
