The liver unit at University Hospital Hairmyres has a new sitting scale, thanks to a generous donation in memory of a former patient.
Jacqueline Bonar, Lead Liver Nurse Specialist, said: “We’re deeply grateful and would like to express sincere thanks to the generous family of Robert McArthur for their recent donation to the unit.
“This donation was given following the care Robert received during his time with us. This thoughtful gift is a gesture of appreciation for the compassion and dedication shown by the liver team during his short period of care before he sadly passed away.
“The sitting scale is a valuable piece of equipment that will significantly enhance patient care. Accurate weight monitoring is a vital part of managing liver disease. For many patients standing can be difficult or unsafe, so this donation will enable staff to obtain precise measurements while ensuring comfort, safety and dignity.
“The donation will have a lasting impact by improving clinical monitoring.
“It’s a meaningful reminder of how gratitude can be transformed into a gift that benefits others facing similar health challenges.”
