Celebrating Occupational Therapy Week 2025

Nov 4, 2025

This week (3-9 November) is Occupational Therapy Week – celebrating the difference occupational therapists (OTs) make through early intervention and preventative care.

In NHS Lanarkshire, OTs work across primary care, community settings and our hospitals to provide practical support and advice to help people with everyday activities.

The theme of this year’s national Occupational Therapy Week is ‘Right support, right time: unlocking the power of OT’. This campaign puts occupational therapy at the heart of a shift towards prevention-focused care – helping people earlier, easing pressure across services and improving outcomes.

Locally, our primary care OTs have planned activities to encourage team bonding and to promote the service to colleagues in primary care. These include wearing and sharing OT badges, take a cake to work and wearing something green.

Lesley Bodin, Head of Occupational Therapy and Professional Lead for NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Our occupational therapists play an important role in preventative care, across the organisation. This Occupational Therapy Week is an opportunity to celebrate all of our OTs and the difference they can make to people’s lives.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all of our occupational therapists for helping patients manage their own health and allowing them to continue with the activities that are important to them.”
