Think about how you’re going to get home when you’re out and about during the festive season, before you head out – and remember to consider any journeys the morning after. Even if you’re slightly over the limit, in the eyes of the law you are a criminal. There’s no grey area. #DriveSmart. Find out more at roadsafety.scot.

Winter weather advice for staff

All NHS Lanarkshire staff have a vital role in maintaining health care services whatever the weather brings. During periods of poor and extreme weather staff should exercise particular care, taking account of the conditions, and be aware that public transport may be subject to cancellation. The general advice is:

  1. Monitor weather forecasts
  2. Dress for the conditions including suitable footwear
  3. Plan journeys allowing additional time

We will share Met Office weather warnings and advice when these warnings have the potential to cause disruption for our staff, patients and services. Managers and staff should have discussions in advance of winter to ensure both personal safety and service continuity. All staff, including managers, should make sure they are familiar with the Adverse Weather Policy. The Ready Scotland website is full of useful advice on preparing for winter at home, at work and transport resilience.
