Patients of Woodstock Medical Centre in Lanark are being invited to attend a meeting about the future of the practice.

NHS Lanarkshire has written to patients inviting them to the meeting in Lanark Grammar School between 7pm and 9pm on Wednesday 23 October 2019.

The meeting follows an announcement last month that GP partners at the practice had given notice of their intention to end their General Medical Services (GMS) contract with NHS Lanarkshire on 6 April 2020.

The Board and the South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership (SLHSCP) have been working with the GPs and staff at the practice and providing support to ensure that patients continue to receive high quality care meantime.

NHS Lanarkshire is also required to put in place a process to award a new permanent contract for the practice. Applications for this contract will be considered by a selection panel, which will include three patient representatives from the practice, a further patient representative from the Health and Social Care Forum, an independent general practitioner and three representatives from NHS Lanarkshire.

Dr Linda Findlay, Medical Director for SLHSCP, said: “We’re holding the meeting for patients to provide an update on the current position, the process involved in awarding a new GMS Contract, and for patients to make comments and ask questions.

“We are hoping the meeting will also encourage some patients to volunteer to be on the recruitment panel.”

Dr Findlay added: “There is limited capacity at Lanark Grammar School in relation to fire regulations, so we’re asking patients to email pcs@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk or telephone 01698 855545 to please let us know if they plan to come along.”

Patients interested in participating on the selection panel to award a new GMS Contract will need to be available for a two hour training session and one full day for the interviews. NHS Lanarkshire will reimburse all reasonable expenses, such as travel, loss of earnings, child minding costs etc.

Anyone interested should contact NHS Lanarkshire:
By telephone – 01698 855545
By email – pcs@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk (please provide name & preferred contact details)
In person – at the meeting on 23rd October.
