Since the start of this year’s flu vaccination programme, staff across NHS Lanarkshire have continued to worked tirelessly in 1,703 clinics to vaccinated 230,370 people. This is more than in the entire programme last year.
Comparison with last year:
Group | 2019/20 | 2020/21 |
2 – 5 (not in school) | 44.4% | 62.7% |
At risk | 39.6% | 54.9% |
Over 65s | 71.5% | 84.6% |
Dr Mark Russell, Associate Medical Director, Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire, said “People in the 60 to 64 age group are now eligible for the flu vaccination and national letters have been sent by first class post to this group. However, they may be caught up in the Christmas rush and not arrive with people as quickly as hoped. Don’t worry, the letters don’t contain details of an appointment. They contain details of how to contact us to make an appointment.”
If you are eligible for the flu vaccination you can contact us directly to book an appointment, you don’t need to wait on a letter. Call 01698 687456 (Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4.15pm) or email FluRebookingAppointments@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk with your name, address, date of birth and telephone number (preferably a mobile number).
Dr Russell, added: “In the days leading up to Christmas there will be limited flu clinics across Lanarkshire, as less people need to be vaccinated. Staff will then have a well-earned break before clinics resume in January for anyone who missed their vaccination.”
