Jings, Crivvens! The Broons support health and social care

One of the nation’s most-loved families continues to support health and social care across Lanarkshire.

Developed in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire and the area’s Health and Social Care Partnerships, The Broons comic strips use familiar characters – including Maw, Paw, Granpaw and The Bairn – to share important health and wellbeing messages in a simple, engaging and accessible way.

The resources support the Home First approach, helping people to remain independent, stay active and receive care at home, or as close to home as possible, whenever it is safe to do so.

Covering a range of topics such as maintaining independence, preventing deconditioning and supporting recovery after illness or a stay in hospital, the comic strips are designed to be easy to read and suitable for a wide range of audiences and settings.

The materials are used across Lanarkshire by Health Improvement teams and in community engagement activity, helping staff connect with patients, families and local communities in a friendly and approachable way.

They can also support conversations in ward areas, outpatient settings, rehabilitation services and community teams, encouraging people to keep moving, stay active and maintain their independence.
