NHS Lanarkshire has thanked everyone who contributed to the latest conversation on Our Health Together, the long-term strategy for improving health, care and wellbeing for the people of Lanarkshire.
The four-week check-in closed on Sunday 6 September, following contributions from patients, carers, staff, communities and partner organisations across Lanarkshire.
Feedback was received through questionnaires for the public, staff and partners, as well as through other engagement routes. Contributions are now being reviewed and will help shape the final refreshed strategy.
Our Health Together builds on the direction established in 2024, with a continued focus on prevention, reducing inequalities, improving access, providing more care closer to home, supporting the workforce and making the best use of available resources.
The refresh is intended to ensure that the strategy remains focused on the outcomes that matter for people and communities across Lanarkshire, and on the practical changes needed to achieve them.
This work is taking place during a period of significant change across health and public services in Scotland. The Scottish Government’s wider programme of public service reform creates opportunities to strengthen collaboration, reduce unnecessary organisational barriers and support new ways of planning and delivering health and care.
Our Health Together is therefore focused on the future health and care needs of the people of Lanarkshire
The refreshed strategy is due to be considered by the NHS Lanarkshire Board on 1 October 2026.
In a joint statement, NHS Lanarkshire Board Chair Katharina Kasper and Chief Executive Louise Long said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to read the refreshed strategy and share their views.
“This was an important opportunity to test whether we are focused on the right things, understand where people believe greater emphasis is needed and hear what matters most as we move towards delivery. The value of Our Health Together will be in how it shapes the decisions we make, the services we redesign and the way we work with partners and communities to improve health and care across Lanarkshire.
“Scotland is entering a period of public sector reform, which gives us an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, remove barriers where they do not add value and think differently about how care is planned and delivered.
“As the national health and care landscape continues to evolve, our focus remains firmly on improving outcomes for the people of Lanarkshire, providing safe and effective care, supporting our workforce and making the best possible use of the resources available to us.
“We will now consider the feedback carefully as the refresh is finalised. Following consideration by the Board, we will publish a summary of what we heard, what changed as a result and what happens next.”
The refreshed Our Health Together strategy is organised around four outcomes:
- Better Health – improving outcomes and reducing unfair differences.
- Better Care – safer, better and more timely care.
- Better Workplace – supporting people to thrive, contribute and live NHS Lanarkshire’s values.
- Better Value – making the best use of money, people and resources.
Engagement will continue as Our Health Together moves into delivery, involving patients, carers, staff, communities and partners in shaping how the strategy is translated into practical change.
