  • Claire Cameron and Claudia Wylie – Assistant Practitioners at University Hospital Wishaw, pioneering technology-led stroke rehabilitation.
  • Craig Graham – Lead Nurse at Salus Occupational Health, known for his technical skill and steadfast support for staff wellbeing.
  • Domestic Supervisors Airdrie/Coatbridge/Cumbernauld – Supervisors overseeing cleaning and facilities across four hospitals and 12 health centres.
  • Dr Farhat Mushtaq – Emergency Medicine Consultant at Hairmyres and national leader on inclusion for international medical graduates.
  • Dr Fong Lau – Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Hairmyres, revitalising stroke and cardiac imaging services through values-led leadership.
  • Dr Lesley Walker – Consultant Obstetrician and Fetal Medicine specialist transforming care for families with complex pregnancies.
  • Gordon Brown – Meet and Greet volunteer at University Hospital Wishaw, offering guidance and reassurance to visitors.
  • Helen Gibson – Medical Secretary supporting the Psychological Therapies Team in Motherwell with compassion and precision.
  • Improving the Cancer Journey Team – Community-based support team guiding people affected by cancer through personalised, practical help.
  • Joe Murdoch – Volunteer ward helper at Hairmyres, bringing warmth, humour and human connection to hospital care.
  • Lanarkshire Blood Borne Virus Prevention and Care Network – Multi-agency team leading efforts to eliminate hepatitis C through outreach, testing and rapid treatment.
  • Lesley Mallon – Risk Management Facilitator at Hairmyres, supporting staff and families through adverse event reviews with empathy and precision.
  • Maureen Allan – Assistant Practitioner supporting older adults with dementia in Bellshill through inclusive, therapeutic community groups.
  • Paula Wilson, Carol McMillan, Clare McDevitt – Paediatric Epilepsy Nursing Team guiding over 300 families with clinical care, education and emotional support.
  • Pauline Ferula – Business Manager in Infection Prevention and Control, coordinating operations and mentoring staff to uphold patient safety.
  • Simon Hall – Volunteer on Vascular Ward 8 at Hairmyres, offering peer support and hope to patients facing amputation.
  • Suzanne Bowman – Management Team Secretary for Physiotherapy, driving digital innovation and operational excellence across services.
  • The Holistic Antenatal Care Pathway – Multidisciplinary maternity team at Wishaw reducing stillbirth through targeted, person-centred care.
  • Vascular POPS Team – Geriatricians supporting frail patients on Ward 8 with daily assessments and person-led surgical planning.
  • Vascular Team – Multidisciplinary clinicians improving outcomes for patients with complex vascular conditions across NHS Lanarkshire.

Categories, open to individuals and teams in clinical and non-clinical roles, for the 2025 Staff Awards were:

Excellence in Care and Compassion

A clinical or non-clinical individual or team who demonstrates care and compassion to others. This may be by:

• Showing empathy through listening to and understanding others’ needs

• Supporting and promoting activities to enhance wellbeing

• Caring for, respecting, and valuing individuals

• Demonstrating a commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of others

Innovation and Improvement Award

A clinical or non-clinical individual or team who demonstrates improvement through innovation. This may be by:

• Testing and adopting small changes, leading to new approaches

• Making ongoing efforts to ensure continuous improvement

• Introducing new ideas, concepts, models, or technologies

• Adopting new ways of working to improve organisational or team performance

Outstanding Team Collaboration (Clinical)

A clinical team who demonstrates effective collaboration across boundaries. This may be by:

• Adopting a whole-system approach to achieving positive outcomes

• Promoting integration through person-centred thinking and delivery

• Working cross-functionally with different teams to provide services

• Engaging in collaborative opportunities to deliver projects, programmes or services

Volunteer Contribution Award

An individual or team of volunteers who make a positive contribution to health or social care services. This may be by:

• Devoting time to volunteering

• Demonstrating energy, drive and enthusiasm

• Contributing positively to patients, carers and families’ health care journeys

• Working tirelessly and generously to give their time to support others

Global Citizenship Award

An individual or team who participates in high-quality, ethical and sustainable global health work in low-and middle-income countries.

• The award recognises the dedication and commitment of an inspiring individual, group or team who are passionate and committed to working with partners overseas to improve the quality of health and social care.
