The Hospital Orthodontic Service in NHS Lanarkshire is currently based at University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres. We provide a service for patients with complex orthodontic treatment needs who have been referred by a Specialist Orthodontic Practitioner.

If you have any concerns about the position of your teeth, then please contact your own General Dental Practitioner who will assess your orthodontic treatment need and refer you to an orthodontic specialist if required.

For patients currently being treated within the department

• Should you have a problem with your orthodontic appliance then we would advise that you contact the department on the phone number that you were provided with at the start of your treatment.
• Further information and advice on how to look after your orthodontic appliances can be found on the information leaflets that you were provided with when your orthodontic appliance was fitted and also on the British Orthodontic Society website https://www.bos.org.uk/
• Please contact the department as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your orthodontic appointment so that it can be re-arranged. This limits any delays to your orthodontic treatment and allows your appointment slot to be allocated to another patient.
• Please continue to see your own General Dental Practitioner for your routine dental check-up appointments during the course of your orthodontic treatment.
