Occupational Therapy for Rheumatology

Occupational Therapy for Rheumatology out-patients clinic provides assessment and treatment of patients who have been referred into the service by the Rheumatologists and other members of the Rheumatology multi-disciplinary team.

From 1 September 2020, the service will resume for routine patients.  Urgent patients have continued to be seen virtually throughout the pandemic.

The majority of patients will receive Occupational Therapy virtually, through telephone or Near Me consultations.  Should a patient be unable to access therapy in this way, they will be offered a home visit where appropriate.

A small percentage of patients will require a face-to-face appointment on a clinical site due to their requirements for hand assessment or splinting.  These will be offered on one of the acute sites initially (University Hospital Wishaw or University Hospital Hairmyres) in line with local guidelines which allow for physical distancing and strict adherence to infection control precautions.
