Lithotripsy Clinic
University Hospital MonklandsExtracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is a technique for treating stones in the kidney and ureter that does not require surgery. Instead, high energy shock waves are passed through the body and used to break stones into pieces as small as grains of sand.
This specialist service is provided in a monthly outpatient clinic on the University Hospital Monklands site.
The monthly Lithotripsy clinic at University Hospital Monklands resumed on 9 September 2020.
Following services resuming, patients booked to attend this clinic will be advised to let the service know if they, or any close family members, have any COVID symptoms and if so, they should not attend and contact us to re-arrange their appointment.
For those patients attending the clinics, they will note the reduced number of patients in the waiting rooms and find that they are not required to wait any length of time in the department. They will be greeted on arrival to the hospital and asked to sanitise their hands and put on a mask if they have not already brought one with them.
For any patients booked to this clinic who require further information, they should contact Mr Nalagatla’s Secretary via the switchboard on 01355 585500.
