NHS Lanarkshire logo and 75 years of the NHS

The Scottish Government and NHS Assure are currently carrying out a review of all NHS Scotland buildings thought to contain Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

We have already carried out surveys prior to the national approach being taken and identified 19 potentially affected buildings.  At that time, our surveys identified RAAC within the roof of Biggar Health Centre and that the building is in a good condition.  We will continue to inspect Biggar Health Centre on a regular basis.

NHS Assure have appointed a national commission to inspect properties identified as having a medium and high risk of containing RAAC, determined from a desk top survey.  They have advised they are progressing with current plans to review properties and are in discussion with the Scottish Government on any further advice to that should be offered to Health Boards.
